KlensecRent (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates a property rental platform accessible via our website and mobile applications. We are committed to protecting your personal data in accordance with the Ghana Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) and other applicable privacy laws. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information.

By using the KlensecRent platform, you consent to the practices described in this policy.

  • Bank account or mobile money details (MTN MoMo, Vodafone Cash, AirtelTigo Money) for payment processing
  • Rental history, reviews, and communications on the platform

  • AWS server logs, access times, and session data
  • Cookies and similar tracking technologies (see our Cookie Policy)
  • Location data (with your permission) to show nearby listings

4.3 Data from Third Parties

  • Identity verification data from Ghana’s National Identification Authority (NIA)
  • Payment gateway data from licensed payment service providers
  • Social login data if you sign in with Google or Facebook

5. How We Use Your Personal Data

  • To facilitate rental bookings between hosts and guests

  • With other platform users: Hosts see guest names and contact details for confirmed bookings; guests see host profiles and property details
  • With service providers: AWS (cloud hosting), payment processors, identity verification services — all bound by data processing agreements
  • With regulators: Ghana Data Protection Commission, Ghana Revenue Authority, or law enforcement when required by law
  • With dispute resolution bodies: Shared only to the extent necessary to resolve platform disputes

All third-party service providers are contractually required to maintain the confidentiality and security of your data.

7. International Data Transfers

Your data is hosted on AWS servers. AWS may store or process data in jurisdictions outside Ghana. Where such transfers occur, we ensure adequate safeguards are in place, including:

  • Standard contractual clauses approved by relevant data protection authorities
  • AWS data processing agreements that meet international data protection standards
  • Transfers only to jurisdictions with adequate data protection laws

You have the right to request information about the safeguards we use for international transfers.

8. Data Retention

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes it was collected, or as required by law:

  • Active account data — retained while your account is active
  • Transaction records — 7 years (in compliance with Ghanaian tax law)
  • Identity verification records — 5 years after last transaction
  • Communication logs — 2 years
  • Marketing preferences — until withdrawal of consent

Upon expiry, data is securely deleted or anonymised.

9. Your Rights Under the Ghana Data Protection Act 2012

As a data subject, you have the following rights under Act 843:

We implement robust technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including:

  • AES-256 encryption of data at rest on AWS
  • TLS 1.2+ encryption for all data in transit
  • Multi-factor authentication for platform access
  • Regular security audits and penetration testing
  • AWS VPC isolation and IAM access controls
  • Staff training on data protection obligations

In the event of a personal data breach, we will notify the Data Protection Commission and affected users within 72 hours of becoming aware, as required by Act 843.

11. Children's Privacy

KlensecRent is not directed at individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a person under 18, please contact rent@klensecrent.com immediately and we will delete the data promptly.

12. Registration with the Data Protection Commission

KlensecRent is registered with the Ghana Data Protection Commission as required under the Ghana Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843). Our registration details are available upon request.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or a prominent notice on the platform at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
